The Psychiatric Nurse Specialist is a registered professional nurse who demonstrates clinical expertise through advance education, knowledge, and skills in area of practice and clinical nursing specialization. The Psychiatric Nurse Specialist provides expert clinical advice and instruction to nursing staff, patients and families, and other health care providers using advanced nursing knowledge and skills. The Psychiatric Nurse Specialist participates in the consultation, clinical teaching, staff development, staff orientation and evaluation for the designated area. Actively participates in a professional nursing organization and hospital wide initiatives. The Psychiatric Nurse Specialist ensures the delivery of patient care supports the mission, philosophy, and goals of the Department of Nursing and Hackensack University Medical Center
Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Master¿s degree in Nursing. 2. Certification in area of clinical practice. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 1. Care of the acute adult psychiatric population 2. Knowledge of Individual Psychotherapy Modalities ie CBT, DBT, Supportive Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing & Mindfulness. 3. Knowledge of Group Psychotherapy & ability to demonstrate: group leadership skills, manage resistance, group dynamics & structure within a group setting. 4. Knowledge of Psychopharmacology. Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License. 2. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification. Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
