JOB SUMMARY:
As a working member of his/her crew, directly responsible for leading, directing, and assigning the work for the other members of his/her crew.
JOB DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Supervise and direct the activities of all NDT personnel assigned, ensuring that all inspections
are properly completed in compliance with established policies and procedures and that the corresponding inspection records, reports and forms are properly executed prior to releasing products for return to service. Responsible for development of inspection personnel to include frontline leadership, coaching, counseling and first level discipline.
2. Perform technical research as required to determined status/compliance of Aircraft components
and systems with latest revisions.
3. Recommend to the Inspection Shift Manager the acquisition and development of new NDT
equipment and procedures to improve the Company’s NDT capabilities.
4. Responsible for ensuring that all inspection tools are maintained in accordance with current
specification and calibrations as required, assures that the proper records are prepared and maintained.
5. Serve as a contact point in order to resolve NDT disputes pertaining to production and provide
related assistance and counsel as needed.
6. Perform NDT audits pertaining to safety and proper maintenance procedures and
documentation to ensure compliance.
7. Perform on aircraft audits of completed inspections to validate effectiveness of the inspection
process.
8. Perform on aircraft NDT and visual inspections as required and as time allows.
9. Provide training to other NDT personnel on all NDT inspection methods and techniques.
10. Assure that all applicable records and reports are completed and maintained as required by the
Federal Aviation Regulations, company policy/directives and customer required policy and procedures.
11. Coordinate with other departments in establishing and maintaining time limits and specifications
for all time-controlled NDT inspection and overhauls.
12. Review procedures and work instructions with other departments to determine Quality control
NDT requirements.
13. Attend customer coordination and status meetings as required at defined times.
14. Responsible for scheduled inspections of aircraft and associated components to include overall
quality project management and oversight.
15. Develop and track NDT inspection budgets for primary inspections performed on assigned
program aircraft.
16. Report primary inspection budget and schedule performance for all NDT inspections to the
responsible Q.C. Shift Manager.
17. Track and report buy-back inspection budget performance to the responsible Q.C. Shift
Manager.
18. Investigate, validate and develop root cause analysis based corrective actions for all “late finds”
identified on assigned program aircraft.
19. Investigate, validate and develop root cause analysis based corrective actions for internal and
external audit findings identified on assigned program aircraft.
20. Assure all aircraft work document errors for yourself and assigned inspectors are corrected in a
timely manner.
21. Clock assigned inspection personnel on and off inspection work orders as applicable
throughout assigned shift.
22. Administer disciplinary action to assigned personnel, as appropriate and required, in
accordance with HAECO Human Resources policies and procedures.
23. Correct time keeping errors for assigned personnel as required.
24. Process as first line of approval and forward to the applicable Q.C. Shift Manager all assigned
employee vacation and sick time requests.
SECONDARY JOB DUTIES
25. Perform additional duties as may be assigned by the Q.C. Shift Manager.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Accountable to the QC Shift Manager in all daily functions.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Five years minimum experience as a mechanic, 50% of which must be as a floor mechanic and at least one year of experience as an inspector on large commercial aircraft.
3. Thorough understanding of HAECO computer system and time keeping requirements.
4. FAA Airframe and Powerplant License
5. Must be certifiable to NDT Level II in PT, MT, ET, UT & RT.
6. Must be have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with a wide variety of people.
7. Thorough understanding of FAA parts 21, 23, 43, 65, 121, 125 and 145.
8. Read, write and understand the English Language.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Maybe exposed to continual loud noises.
2. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for prolong periods of time, climb steps, ladders and/or service stands.
3. Visual acuity must be a minimum of 20/40 corrected and must have full color vision.
