We are seeking a Junior Copywriter to join our Creative/Digital Department.
A Junior Copywriter works with Designers, Art Directors and/or other creatives to concept ideas and write copy for marketing, advertising and communications campaigns and elements. They write content for websites, social media, collateral, videos, infographics, podcasts, radio spots, and advertisements. Other responsibilities include quality control, editing, proofreading and concepting with other employees. They have proven experience with scriptwriting, video production, and digital platforms and a working knowledge of some Adobe Creative Suite programs. They have a strong portfolio, demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as an ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines. They provide support for business development including creating compelling speculative work, writing and maintaining case studies, and supporting proposals as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partner with designers and art directors to develop creative print, digital, and multimedia products
- Understand client needs, goals and objectives and learn to execute on project creative briefs and strategic guidance
- Support specific client projects and/or task areas, such as concepting, message development, content development
- Support senior creatives with writing and content development for a wide range of digital projects such as videos, social media, websites, digital banner ads, and HTML emails
- Support senior creatives with the planning, writing and production of a wide range of print materials such as print advertisements, brochures, postcards, flyers, posters and conference materials
- Assist senior creatives with brainstorming, idea generation and creative ideation
- Deliver excellent client service, including attending promptly to internal creative requests, keeping senior creatives abreast of progress, and developing and seeking input on solutions for any issues that arise
- Support the quality control process (e.g., proofreading, formatting, editing, production preparation) and ensure that all work performed is error-free
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects
- Establish and maintain strong relationships within creative team as appropriate
- Write promotional materials for Hager Sharp, including case studies, website content, social media content, marketing materials, and emails
- Support the quality control process (e.g., proofreading, formatting, editing, production preparation) and ensure that all work performed is error-free
- Support all final proposal production activities and provide any other general new business support as requested
- Stay up to date on creative best practices and tips and tricks to inform all client projects
- Prepare and participate in professional development presentations for Hager Sharp staff on relevant updates in the creative field
Qualifications:
- Strong professional portfolio
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, advertising, marketing (or a similar field)
- Previous experience in marketing, copywriting, content development, or a related field strongly preferred; experience in an advertising, communications, and/or design agency setting a plus
- Strong writing, editing, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite software
- Proven ability to work within a fast-paced and highly collaborative team environment
- Experience balancing multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Able to present and explain ideas to internal clients and colleagues
- Solid attention to detail and organizational skills
- Open to constructive criticism, new ideas and feedback
- Interest in creative trends, new techniques, and technological developments
- Motivation to maintain and improve creative standards
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
