What are the responsibilities and job description for the LEARNING CENTER DIRECTOR position at HALB?
Our ideal candidate will:
Be responsible for maintaining exceptional communication about students with learning differences among parents, teachers, and the school administration;
Take a proactive role in the identification and remediation of individual student learning issues to promote academic achievement;
Maintain coherence and continuity of accommodations and learning profiles of all students with learning differences;
Manage a caseload of students who require specialized educational support in our learning center in individual or small groups settings;
Manage and grow all department-wide district resource room services and personnel;
Meet on a regular basis with parents and students with both IEP and 504 plans to review current accommodations and academic progress;
Consult on a regular basis with teachers of students with both IEP and 504 plans about how to accommodate and support those students;
Educate and train the entire faculty on how to best differentiate curriculum and support heterogeneous groups of learners;
Maintain excellent electronic records and files on students’ learning profiles, and update and share those records each term with faculty and administration;
Serve as an advocate for all students with any learning differences;
Recommend and manage educational evaluations, when warranted, and in concert with the school district personnel;
Interface with the local school district to oversee annual evaluation and review meeting processes;
Attend professional development workshops on best practices in Special Education;
Requirements:
Have prior experience in high schools, and preferably in the independent school world
Possess an advanced degree in Special Education and/or School Administration;
