The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist will be responsible for creating, implementing, managing, and continually enhancing environmental health and safety programs within the facility. This role focuses on overseeing site-wide EHS management systems, compliance with EHS regulations, and adopting industry best practices.

Key responsibilities for this role may include:

  • Defining and deploying effective environmental safety (ES) assuring compliance with Haleon EHS standards, regulatory requirements and aligned with strategy in relation to air emissions (CO2, COVs, noise, etc.), natural resources consumption (energy, water, paper), energy consumption, and wastewater & waste.

  • Delivering key sustainable solutions or treatments (hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste) and supporting AWS (water, CO2, energy) ensuring delivery of Haleon's externally committed Sustainability Targets.

  • Designing and directing ES improvement plans for short and medium term, searching opportunities externally (benchmark, suppliers, contractors) and internally.

  • Defining and maintaining KPIs related with ES.

  • Conducting environment impact risk assessments for Haleon activities, reviewing realistic alternatives and supporting/leading/monitoring risk mitigation plans for implementation towards continuous improvement.

  • Coordinating and executing ES plans to minimize impact in environment and surroundings.

  • Assuring audit process is in place to monitor effectiveness of ES programs and controls.

  • Developing and executing training plans in ES.

  • Ensuring ES risks are appropriately addressed in new designs or changes.

  • Developing and updating the required SOPs and documentation needed for proper ES management.

  • Managing Waste Management contracts and resources linked with the process.

  • Assuring the Dangerous Goods Process for waste management is following regulations, in place and in use.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, or Industrial Hygiene

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • 5 years of experience working in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility or other manufacturing facility.

  • Master's Degreein an EHS or Engineering Discipline

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

  • Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST)

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

  • Environmental Management Systems (EMS) certifications

  • Familiarity with U.S. Environmental Health and Safety regulations and compliance

  • Experience conducting risk assessments and implementing strategies to manage and mitigate risks.

  • Previous experience working in a regulated environment.

  • Experience creating and preparing reports as well as sharing information with various stakeholders virtually or in person.
