Grant Writer - Florida
Halff is a large interdisciplinary Architecture and Engineering firm experiencing tremendous growth and looking to expand our practice in Florida. Due to our growth, we are looking for a qualified individual to support the expansion of the Florida Grants and Funding Resources Team. Experience with Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (FDEO) CDBG-MIT and CDBG-DR, Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), Hazard Mitigation Grant Program and Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), Resilient Florida and State Revolving Fund program experience preferred.
Our team understands that many experts in the grant and loan/funding resources field have more in-depth knowledge of specific programs and will have a learning curve in regards to other mentioned programs. Grant Application & Administration Production Staff Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist in application and document development as needed. Portions or all the following may be included:
    • Assist in grant application development including providing a timeline of application development deliverables; writing narrative; developing any required supplemental information and visuals when needed; formatting budgets; coordinating with Practice Leads and Clients to gather and synthesize information; and submitting applications
    • Provide draft application documents for review with substantial time for quality control by internal team
    • Assist Practice Leaders/Clients if funding agency requests follow-up information post-submittal
  • Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Work with internal and external professionals across a broad range of technical, engineering and architectural practices

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements/Preferences:
  • Broad and specific knowledge of relevant grant and loan programs from Federal, Florida, and local agencies including, but not limited to:
    • US Department of Agriculture (USDA)/Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)
    • US Department of Commerce/Economic Development Administration (EDA)
    • US Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) BRIC, Flood Mitigation, HMGP Programs
    • US Department of Transportation (US DOT)
    • Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (FDEO) CDBG Programs
    • Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM)
    • Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)
    • Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Resilience, Coastal Management, SRF and recreation grant programs
  • Experienced in development and quality control of grant/loan applications, and internal and external presentations
  • Three to five years' experience in grant development is preferred
  • Bachelor degree preferred but not required
