JOB DESCRIPTION
The House Monitor is responsible for supporting the individuals placed at the shelter; facilitating a trauma informed, person-centered environment for services; and using a minimum impact approach to de-escalating stress. House Monitor must be able to demonstrate competent judgment, and have the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. Staff will function within the established guidelines and procedures and receives close supervision.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build productive relationships with clients, ensuring proper boundaries with all individuals
- Provides direct supervision and interaction with residents to include participation in all shelter activities.
- Performs intake screening and paperwork.
- Responds to incoming telephone calls, provides information and /or crisis intervention and produce written documentation.
- Transports clients as necessary to various community locations.
- Monitors division of chores and completion of chores and overall client behavior and attitude to provide daily team rating.
- Maintains order and cleanliness of shelter; reporting needed repairs and maintenance.
- Must be able to establish a respectful relationship with persons served to help them gain skills and confidence;
- Must be able to work collaboratively with other personnel and/or service providers or professionals;
- Must have the capacity to maintain a helping role and to intervene appropriately to meet service goals;
- All other duties as assigned by the Case Manager
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED required. Prior experience working in homeless shelter preferred. Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, problem solving and verbal and written communication skills. Must possess a valid New York State Driver's License and a clean driving record.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.75 - $21.15 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
