What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatch clerk position at Haltom City?
Processes and dispatches Public Works service calls; responds to public inquiries and complaints; issues assigned City permits;
and performs a variety of clerical duties in support of departmental operations.
Examples of Duties :
- Provides customer service to the public in person and via telephone.
- Responds to public works related inquiries, complaints, and requests for service.
- Logs and processes maintenance requests pertaining to City water, sewers, streets, street lighting, traffic lights, parks, and recreation facilities.
- Prioritizes and dispatches calls for service to appropriate Public Works personnel.
- Assists contractors and City residents in locating utility lines and water / sewer mains.
- Issues waste hauler permits, right-of-way permits, and backflow tester registrations.
- Coordinates the issuance of fire hydrant meters to contractors working within City limits.
- Orders departmental materials including concrete, sand, flex base, and topsoil.
- Conducts general clerical duties including answering incoming calls and processing mail.
- Coordinates with other City departments regarding Public Work projects and activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Typical Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year clerical / customer service experience
