This is an open Continuous advertisement for Certified and Non-Certified (Trainee) Correctional Officer applicants for the State of Florida. Certified Correctional Officers must have completed the Basic Recruit Training Course for Correctional Officers and be eligible for or possess a current employment certificate of compliance for Correctional Officers issued by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
Documentation You Must Provide for Interview:

- Copy of DD-214, Member 4 Copy, for each period of Military Service (If currently a reservist or member of the National Guard, provide a copy of Military ID.)

Passing scores on the Correctional Officer Basic Abilities Test (BAT) - For information regarding scheduling and taking this test, please contact the Institutional Recruiter.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:
This occupation requires certification in accordance with Chapter 943, Florida Statutes, and completion of the basic recruit training course for Correctional Officers and incumbents must be eligible for or possess a current employment certificate of compliance issued by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. Salary/Leave/Bonus Information:
- Certified Pay: Bi-weekly: $1,760
- Hourly Rate of Pay: $22
- Leave Benefits: Annual Leave= 104 hours; Sick Leave=104 hours; Military Leave=240 hours; 9 State Holidays and 1 personal holiday.
- $1000 signing bonus - Will be received, upon completing required Basic Recruit Academy and Passing Score on Florida Department of Law Enforcement's State Correctional Officer Exam. (If you are returning to the Agency, with required Certifications, the Signing Bonus will be paid the month after being rehired).
- $5000 signing bonus - if you become a Certified Correctional Officer for the Florida Department of Corrections during the fiscal year of 2023-2024.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE: Pursuant to Chapter 295, Florida Statutes, candidates eligible for Veterans' Preference will receive preference in employment for Career Service vacancies and are encouraged to apply. Candidates claiming Veterans' Preference must attach supporting documentation with each submission that includes character of service (for example, DD Form 214 Member Copy #4) along with any other documentation as required by Rule 55A-7, Florida Administrative Code.
