As a General Laborer, you will be responsible for assisting Field Technicians with HVAC and Boiler services including cutting sheet metal, installing ductwork, assembling, and installing HVAC equipment, steam boilers and pressure valves. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with HVAC service and installations including testing equipment, mounting equipment, performing diagnosis, adjusting refrigerant, and wiring controls.
- Collaborate with HVAC Service Technicians to run service and installation jobs.
- Assist in replacing, repairing, and installing HVAC and refrigeration units.
- Power wash HVAC equipment units.
- Assist with running performance maintenance calls.
- Assist with assembling, installing, repairing and testing steam boilers, pressure vessels, tanks and vats.
- Loads structural parts of boilers, pressure vessels or tanks on pallets.
- Assist in positioning parts in jigs and attaches clamps or other holding devices to fit parts together.
- Remove boiler casings, grades, handrails, manhole covers to facilitate access to boilers or other vessels.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. 6 months of experience in HVAC/Mechanical Services industry.
Competencies:
- Ability to communicate with internal team and customers.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
Physical Demands
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including electronic and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment, and various other HVAC equipment. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires:? stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those of medium work.
Work Environment
This job operates primarily alone on HVAC and boiler equipment in all environments, which includes extreme cold or heat depending on the time of year). Vehicles are used as the base of operations.
