JOB SUMMARY
The Manager of Student Accounts will provide leadership, direction and management of the billing and collection of receivables for all Hamline University students. The Manager leads a team that services students, parents, staff and faculty of Hamline ensuring all constituents are provided outstanding service. This individual will ensure department is meeting required deadlines and compliant with regulatory and industry best practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruit, select, train, lead and evaluate the ongoing performance of Student Accounts team.
Identify development opportunities and provide team with resources to continue to improve
skills
- Manage the implementation and process of payment plans which requires creating deadlines and placing students on financial holds when payment isn’t being made
- Manage departmental budget
- Create and maintain charge assessment calculations and configuration, on a semester basis, in Workday for: Undergrad, Grad and other categories of students; and room, board and parking
- Configure the charge adjustment rules in Workday for all terms by collaborating with the Registrar’s office to identify students who are allowed full or partial refunds
- Ensure Student Financials configuration in Workday consistently runs correctly and data is accurate and available for various processes, including: charge assessment, financial holds, charge adjustment, and application of payments
- Serve as the administrator and primary contact for the online payment system (CashNet)
- Represent the Student Accounts department on various committees and collaborate with
leaders across the University at all levels
- Serve as a resource to answer questions and concerns regarding student accounts,
maintaining good will on behalf of the University
- Manage the accounts receivables of the University by establishing and maintaining collections policies and procedures and holding others accountable to ensure they are being followed
- Negotiate contracts and lead the relationship with collection agencies
- Develop procedures to collect monies from students currently on financial hold
- Ensure reconciliations of all accounts are completed on time and accurately
- Provide direction on the Student Accounts web page regarding layout, clarity, and
effectiveness. In addition, coordinate the creation, printing and distribution of all Student
Accounts marketing materials
- Ensure team is complying with all established policies and procedures and compliant with all regulations and requirements. Manage the Cashier’s office to ensure proper handling of
receipts and recording of payments.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related business field
- 5 years progressive work experience in an accounting or financial role
- 2 years of professional experience of managing employees
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- 5 years’ experience working with accounts receivable
- Experience working with Workday Student preferred

- This is a full time, 1.0 FTE, non-exempt position, 12 months a year.
