Elementary Math Interventionist

The Math Interventionist is a highly qualified teacher of mathematics who works specifically with elementary-aged students who require strategic and intensive intervention. The focus of the interventionist is to develop a student-centered system of intervention that effectively works to close the achievement gap in mathematics. The goal of the interventionist is to ensure that the students are able to master grade-level standards and curriculum by instructing students who have not yet met state mathematics standards. Supervision: Works under the supervision of the principal.

The principal, based on the results of an annual performance evaluation, determines consideration for continued employment.Performance Responsibilities: Support the goals, philosophy, and mission of the district;Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and colleagues;Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues;Promote a positive learning environment that includes behavioral management techniques appropriate to the needs of all students;Plan, develop, and evaluate high-quality mathematics lessons for students in Kindergarten through Grade 6;Develop lessons that include differentiation techniques;Demonstrate exemplary classroom math instructional practice and possessa deep understandingof mathematics theory for the purpose of effective best practices to improve student achievement results and close achievement gaps;Work with regular education students who are not yet demonstrating grade-level proficiency in math;Regularly analyze data from interim assessment andother progress monitoring toolsto assess student progress while delivering focused intervention to students;Deliver instruction in small-group settings/one-to-one;Performs all other duties assigned by the principal.General Expectations: Maintains the trust and confidence of students;Works independently with general guidance;Maintains cooperative relationships with students and adults;Manages time to accomplish multiple tasks and meet deadlines;Operates standard office equipment including computers, email, and copier;Communicates effectively both orally and in writing.District CORI Check required before employment beginsFederal Fingerprint Check required before employment begins
