Job Summary:

Hands Of Healing’s Reunification Specialist (RS) will provide assistance to the Case Managers in the ongoing identification of release options for UC within the program. The RS will maintain communication with the Lead Case Manager to facilitate the safe and timely release of UC. The RS will maintain abreast of all changes and updates in ORR safe and timely release Policy and Procedures. The RS is required to maintain a flexible, organized, and efficient work schedule and is subject to work extended hours, weekends, and be on-call.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist Case Managers with complex cases, and communicate with UC and identified sponsors, to identify safe and timely release options.
  • Attend all staffing with ORR/FFS, and program departments.
  • Assist the Lead Case Manager in the monitoring of all UC’s files, to include review of completed Family Reunification Packet (FRP) for release recommendation submittal.
  • In the absence of the Lead Case Manager, will serve as a liaison between ORR/FFS, legal service provider, DHS/ICE, and Border Patrol.
  • Assist CM with ensuring ORR’s safe and timely release policy revisions are appropriately implemented within required timeframes.
  • Attend meetings that involve case staffing, repatriations, attorney-UC visits, LOPC appointments and referrals to the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights.
  • Ensure that the continuation of services, case management and reunification services will be provided 7 days a week.
  • Attend all organizational required trainings.
  • Attend CM departmental and program meetings, when asked, to ensure that up-to-date information is received and/or information of policy changes or practice are adhered to.
  • Attend training that will enhance professional growth in the area of RS and documentation, or other topics as deemed appropriate by the Program Director or Designee.
  • Must assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and hazard-free work area.
  • Ensure the proper supervision of youth at all times.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • At minimum, the RS must hold a Bachelor’s degree Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, or other social service field; or at least 3 years progressive employment experience that demonstrates supervisory and case management experience.
  • Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Windows (Word Perfect, Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and be eligible to drive to facilitate program services as required by Cooperative agreement.
  • Required to work a flexible schedule to facilitate program services.
  • Cleared Tuberculosis test results.
  • Cleared background check from appropriate entity.
  • Must be Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Cleared pre-employment and random drug test results
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to obtain and perform Emergency Behavior Intervention Training (EBI)/Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification and First Aid Certification (CPR). Must be able to supervise clients indoors and outdoors as necessary. Bending, stooping, and lifting up to 20 lbs. required to complete daily tasks. Job requires extended periods of sitting and use of various office equipment.

Work Environment:

Work is at a youth care facility at which minors receive multiple services. Work shifts are subject to change so RS must remain flexible with his/her working hours. Noise levels vary from mild to moderate. Predominantly indoors, occasional outdoor monitoring or activities.
