What are the responsibilities and job description for the Co-teacher position at Hands Up! Preschool?
Summary
This person is prepared to assist the co-teacher in order to guide each and every child in their care. They are able and willing to change direction any time it is necessary when teacher the preschool aged children. They understand that learning through play is intentional, fun and ongoing. They are able to assess each child's needs in order to help them grow. They readily ask for guidance for any areas of help that they need in order to benefit the children.
The candidate will be able to sit (on the floor with children), stand, walk and play with children from ages six weeks to five years old on a daily basis. He/ She will be able to effectively write a daily lesson plan which includes, but not limited to, group/ circle time, independent play, outdoor/gross motor play, meal times and rest times along with the TN preschool standards.
The teacher will work collectively with the co-teacher to develop lesson plans and instruct students during specific teacher led activities as well as provide encouragement, engagement and guidance during child-led learning through play.

Duties
- To assist students in beginning their day
- Follow the policies and procedures set by Hands Up! Preschool
- To report to the director daily
- To attend weekly and staff meetings with the director
- To create weekly lessons plans (with weekly and daily breakdowns)
- To communicate professionally with parents/families of students
- To care for students as the first priority from the start of the school day to the end
- Some after school duties apply as well as school events
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Background check will be conducted
- Must be able to lift up to 45lbs.
- Must be able to sit or squat on the floor for up to fifteen-minute intervals
- Must be able to stand and walk for up to one hour
- Physical fitness level allows for you to keep up with the pace of the active children
- Must understand that daily outdoor play will occur with their supervision up to 1.5 hours at a time
