Job Duties/Scope Of Work
JOB SUMMARY
This position provides environmental and project support to organizations under the Hanford Mission
Essential Services Contract. Responsibilities typically include but are not limited to analysis of work
packages for applicable environmental compliance, perform/conducting environmental management and
compliance assessments and identifying and resolving environmental issues. The successful candidate may also develop procedures for environmental protection.
Essential job duties of this position include:
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits by creating compliance matrices for company-wide operations.
- Maintain environmental compliance matrices to ensure proper procedures and/or work practices are in place to maintain compliance.
- Establish and maintain configuration control of compliance matrices in IDMS.
- Provide technical assistance and oversight to line organizations and projects and assist Subject Matter Experts and Environmental Compliance Officers supporting operations to maintain compliance with Federal and State regulations, permits, and licenses.
- Screen potentially applicable environmental requirements that emerge from the Federal Register, Washington State Register, and other sources for applicability.
- Coordinate with SMEs to ensure regulatory aspects and impacts are considered company and sitewide.
- Review new, proposed, and final rule changes and new or modified contracts previously identified by Requirements Management as applicable to HMIS.
- Lead/provide support to the management of Hanford Site Mixed Waste Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR) reporting.
- Provide support to related Project Manager meetings as required by TPA Milestones and input into the LDR Database to produce the LDR Report.
- Maintain and improve the LDR databases and support the LDR Report.
- Compile and transmit reports either directly to the regulatory agency on DOE's behalf or to DOE-RL for submittal to the regulatory agency in accordance with environmental requirements applicable to Hanford.
- Interact with federal partners, EPA, Washington State Department of Ecology, Washington State Department of Health, other site contractors and sub-contractors regarding Hanford environmental matters.
- Prepare, maintain and revise appropriate procedures for implementing requirements, compliance matrices, environmental permits and licenses.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in environmental science, chemistry, environmental management or a related discipline -OR - an equivalent combination of education and experience, plus a minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental and regulatory reporting, analysis, or sustainability related fields.
- Experience in reading and understanding environmental laws and regulations, chemical nomenclature, and analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience working with detailed technical data.
Desired Qualifications
* Knowledgeable of the Tri-Party Agreement (TPA) process.
- Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong MS Office computer skills; advanced understanding of Excel.
Compensation & Benefits
Grade 17: $94,650 to $119,250
Grade 18: $104,175 to $131,425
Grade 19: $114,475 to $144,325
