.We are actively seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to be based out of Chattanooga, TN and lead an accounting team comprised of 4-5 people. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing the monthly 'close' process for our deadline-driven company. Demonstrating success in enhancing internal controls, optimizing financial reporting, and implementing profit improvement initiatives is essential. This role requires quick and detailed financial thinking at both macro and micro levels.
This individual will be responsible for forging strong relationships with business partners and working collaboratively with the team to provide financial information to company executives. This information will be crucial for analyzing business performance and making strategic economic decisions that impact future investments and business objectives.
Demonstrated leadership and management skills are highly valued, as the Director of Accounting will be a key member of the management team. This individual will have the opportunity to be part of a growing $1.4 billion revenue healthcare company, contributing to the manufacturing and delivery of advanced Orthotic and Prosthetic solutions to the inspiring patients we serve.
Your Impact
- .Under the direction of the CFO, prepare the annual budgets, monthly forecasts, strategic planning and variance analyses, ensuring operational results are evident in the numbers, and that financial results are understood by business partners, the Senior Leadership Team (“SLT”) and accurately reflected in the corporate systems (Epicor, Oracle, etc.).
- Lead the integration and oversight of the accounting and financial processes and systems utilized.
- Primary preparation of key direct segment accounting and cost accounting.
- Create performance and monitoring of profitability assessments of individual product lines.
- Manage, monitor and develop the accounting team that directly supports the business unit, ensuring consistency of deliverables and creating standard operating procedures consistent with parent company policies.
- Monitor daily financial results for forecast implications and ensure forecast accuracy for the business unit.
- Own and manage the financial calendar ensuring milestones are achieved with ease, issues are resolved early and resolution communicated.
- Provide leadership with routine and ad hoc reporting focused on identifying underlying business trends, and work directly with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement; ability to quickly create new financial schedules.
- Analyze financial and operational data, and develop financial models used to guide business decisions (e.g. profitability by customer/product line, price-volume-mix analyses, waterfalls and bridges for variances, ROI/IRR/NPV/Capital Budgeting, Working Capital including DSO, DOH, and DPO, etc.).
- Create and deliver formal presentations of financial results to senior management (Monthly Business Reviews, Budget Presentations, Strategic Plan Presentations, etc.) in support of CFO and business partners – areas include, but are not limited to, Cost of Materials (Materials, Freight, Labor and OpEx), costs of operating functions (including fully allocating all of these costs to the business units each period), and full P&L of our manufacturing organization.
- Work with business partners to identify opportunities to improve cost structure.
- Participate in a variety of projects, preparing financial “what if” analyses, and written reports.
- Provide timely responses and deliverables to requests from internal customers from partnering functions, teams, and segment owners.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5 years of financial experience in a complex environment
- Strong attention to detail and strong desire to move up in the organization
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced dynamic organization
- Highly organized and proficient in MS office – strong Excel skills required
- Financial inventory management experience
- Objective thinker and problem solver with ability to execute challenging tasks to completion
- Ability to influence cooperation and develop relationships at all levels of the organization
Preferred Skills & Experience
- CPA and/or MBA
- Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Public company experience
- ERP implementation experience
- Experience collaborating across various functional areas
