Maintenance Specialist/Grounds Person

Provides ground maintenance and gardening work for the Center.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• In all activities acts as a positive adult role.
• Always adhere to Hanna Boys Center policies and procedures.
• Faithful and punctual in conforming to assigned work hours.
• Cultivate, water, fertilize, cut, and trim lawns and other improved grounds.
• Plant, cultivate, water, trim, fertilize shrubs, hedges, flowers, and trees.
• Operate commercial landscape maintenance and hand tools.
• Operate, maintain, repair, and install sprinkler system, including automatic controllers, and water lines.
• Operate, repair and maintain power lawn mowers, E Z Go’s, work trucks, tractors, chain saws, leaf blowers, aerators, woodchippers, power edgers, power trimmers, log splitters, hand tools and other grounds equipment.
• Collect garbage from buildings.
• Maintain and repair pavements and storm drains.
• Instruct boys during their work programs.
• Provide support to Facilities and Custodial crews as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

• Able to safely operate power driven grounds maintenance equipment.
• Demonstrate the ability to safely do heavy outside manual labor, which requires strength and agility.
• Ability to establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with co- workers.
• Ability to work under supervision.
• Able to carry out oral and written directions and accomplish tasks on time.
• Possess a valid California driver’s license.
• Must pass physical exam, including drug test.
• 2 years industry experience.

Comments:

• Must clear background check for a Community Care Licensed facility, including physical, tb and drug test.
• Physical requirements must include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders of all heights and the ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

Experience:

• Landscape maintenance: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)
