Partners with Merchandising and Retail Operations to develop standardized and ad hoc reporting and insights around past shrink performance for Fresh and Center Store and forecast future performance based on trends and new programs. Responsible for maximizing profitability for end of life and end of season items. Work with the Category teams utilizing the markdown optimization software to evaluate inventory levels and determine the appropriate level of markdown.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

> Analyzes the root causes of retail shrink results and reports out the insights and recommendations.

> Establish markdown pricing for a specific grouping of categories based on reset schedules for end of life items that delivers maximum profitability for the organization.

> Calculate the financial impact to the categories and share with the pricing analysts to incorporate into their forecasts.

> Detect, research and correct data errors with reset lists that would impact retail operations and pricing margin.

> Develops exception based reports utilizing DA procurement and reporting systems to identify gaps in retail execution.

> Utilizes DA systems and trends to determine ROIs on various shrink reduction/profit enhancement proposals.

> Creates tools to assist various Category, Merchandising and Pricing departments with identifying shrink opportunities.

> Participates in special projects that improve business process and/or departmental operations.

> Assists in the development of shrink budgets by banner and department.

> Forecasts and maintains shrink accrual by banner at the major or sub category level utilizing past and current shrink trends.

> Serves as a resource within the profitability team regarding best practices and strategies.

> Partners with various DA teams to ensure system/item integrity opportunities are identified and resolved.

> Develops relationships with peers in different departments to build a greater understanding of organizational functions and how they impact shrink.

> Partners with the reclaim team to identify item set up opportunities.

> Update SPTAs and training materials as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

> 3 – 5 years combined experience in retail, category, merchandising, pricing, supply chain or business analytics.

> Basic professional level knowledge of company, business and industry practices.

> PC proficiency – Excel, Microstrategy, (or other DSS software package), web based applications.

> Strong analytical experience.

> Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.

Preferred:

> Shrink analytics experience
