Job description – Operations Director
LOCATION – Hanover Community, approximately 23 miles southeast of Fountain, CO.
SUMMARY OF FUNCTION
Coordinates and oversees all functions of the Maintenance department for safe, timely and efficient provision of service.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- In accordance with the Superintendent guidance, develop long term/short term plans in response to community needs and school district mission
- Communicates/cooperates with the Superintendent, school principals and administration regarding maintenance needs and concerns
- Supervises and evaluates maintenance and custodial staff
- Confers to address daily maintenance problems and plans
- Supervises and ensures the accuracy of timesheets for all maintenance and custodial personnel
- Maintains safety standards in conformance with state and insurance regulations
- Develops a program of preventive safety
- Maintains required records related to health inspections, training maintenance and custodial staff, all expenditures and all maintenance and custodial department personnel
- Inspects cleanliness of all district facilities and grounds on a regular basis
- Establishes and maintains an appropriate preventive maintenance program for all district facilities and mechanical equipment
- Cooperates with the Superintendent in formulation of request for proposals for products and services exceeding $12,500
- Provides leadership in recruiting, selection, hiring and retention of staff related to responsible departments
- Establishes/maintains effective pre-service and in-service programs
- Confer with the Superintendent on facility conditions during inclement weather and other natural weather events
- Respond to building fire and security alarm calls
OTHER DUTIES
- Performs related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment operations
- Ability to supervise maintenance and custodial staff
- Ability to maintain a high state of moral, positive attitude and motivation within and among departments
- Ability to perform sound maintenance, custodial and related administrative analysis and take or recommend appropriate actions regarding such matters
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to lead the work of teams and work groups
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Ability to keep abreast of developments in the field
- Ability to check e-mails and draft documents on a computer
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and AptaFund
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in school maintenance and custodial services or related field
- Progressively responsible experience in school maintenance and custodial services or equivalent, five years preferred
- School maintenance and custodial services supervisory experience preferred.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to Superintendent
- Supervises department staff
WORKING CONDITIONS
- The work is performed in the field and in a typical office environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Typical positions require workers to walk or stand for long periods, climb stairs, bend, reach, hold, grasp and turn objects; and use fingers to operate computer. The work requires the ability to speak normally and to use normal or aided vision and hearing.

SALARY
Pay: $45,000 - $60,000 dependent on experience
