SUMMARY/SCOPE OF POSITION: Supervises all types of maintenance on plant equipment and tool crib inventory, as well as ensuring the efficient operation of the tooling process to support manufacturing operations. Perform maintenance on grounds and building including electrical, plumbing, lighting, HVAC,etc. 

Supervise the departments through employee involvement using team-building concepts. Assist in development and training of personnel and concepts to produce the best possible repair of machinery. Establish and implement comprehensive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and efficiency of industrial equipment and facilities.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Functional

· Manage and lead a team of maintenance technicians and tool and die makers, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.

· Schedule the department’s workload, plan, and maintain proper preventative maintenance programs.

· Obtain repair parts that are difficult to obtain for reasons of machinery obsolescence of long lead-time.

· Manage the production of tooling components, including dies, molds, and fixtures, to support manufacturing needs.

· Coordinate and schedule regular maintenance, repairs, and adjustments of tooling equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

· Maintains plant equipment to include installation, tooling, operational training, trouble-shooting and maintenance.

· Provides input in determining spare parts requirements.

· Provides input and assistance in operation of all computerized administrative functions related to the Maintenance Department.

· Alerts management to any peculiarities in the Maintenance Operation which might cause excessive downtime and loss of production.

· Maintains a library of all related documentation on current plant equipment.

· Provides maintenance for building and grounds.

· Provides assistance to outside contractors.

· Responsible for the proper handling of hazardous and controlled wastes generated through normal maintenance operations.

· Use of Technology: Adopting new technologies to enhance performance and to leverage knowledge and information for driving competitive advantage. Fostering an environment where technological innovations are recognized and rewarded.

· Develop and maintain an effective preventive maintenance and TPM program for all plant manufacturing equipment. Ensure replacement parts inventory to provide maximum support of equipment.

· Coordinate in-house and contracted equipment projects to facilitate production objectives.

· Works when expected and contributes best efforts towards the timely completion of work assignments.

· Support the one at a time flow, kanban inventory, and process improvements through facility’s Lean concepts.

· Maintains Time and Attendance system daily. Entering or Adjusting hours worked, reporting any discrepancies and follow up for missing information. Verify all hours and other data have been accurately input on a bi-weekly basis.

· Work closely with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to address tooling requirements, resolve issues, and support production schedules.

  • ISO 9001 & 14001, government regulations (e.g. health, safety, quality and environmental), and functional policies. 
  • For those with supervisory responsibilities: Trains and motivates      subordinates in the importance of full compliance with the letter and      spirit of such policies and procedures.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 

Associate degree in a technical field. Equivalent experience will be considered.  See statement below.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Five years experience in electrical, mechanical and computerized equipment maintenance to include knowledge in operation and maintenance of equipment such as drills, compressors, power saws, CNC equipment, etc., routine to a maintenance operation. Must be proficient with Microsoft applications and have strong communication skills. Previous supervisory experience is preferred.  See statement below.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift and      manipulate 50 pounds occasionally.  Must      be able to distinguish colors.
