What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deck Hand position at harbor-hawk?
Harbor Hawk Docks, Lifts and Seawall Construction
Harbor Hawk is a marine construction company. We specialize in the installation of seawalls, decks, platforms, stairs, permanent docks, and removeable docks and boatlifts.
As a deckhand, the main responsibilities are assisting a dock and lift crew with the installation and removal of docks and boatlifts. The deckhand will be trained and guided by the crew chief who is the team leader, as well as the operator of the fork barge. The fork barge is necessary to lift heavier objects in the process of installation and removal. This process consists of building, leveling, and securing docks according to the customers needs. There are many types of docks that require different tools and hardware necessary for the installation. As for boatlifts, assisting the operator with placement is the most important aspect of installation, along with leveling and securing the boatlift in place. You will be trained accordingly.
The most important skills required for this company are tool use (ranging from hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, and screwdrivers) and power tool use (ranging from impacts, drills, and saws.) Additional skills needed are the ability to work as a team, the ability to work on the water in challenging weather conditions, and the ability to perform physical labor.
Having the willingness to learn will be necessary to acquire the appropriate skills to grow as a dock and lift crew member.
