Sr Accountant

Overview

We are seeking a Sr. Accountant to assists our Controller and Accounting Manager carrying out responsibilities of the Accounting Department. 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Maintain listing of Loans Held for Investment (LHFI) and Non-Performing Loans
• Calculate and record interest due on LHFI and Loans Held for Sale portfolios
• Prepare fair market value entry for closed loans
• Respond to and review requests for buyouts, repurchased loans, and modifications
• Track accounts receivable and extraordinary items
• Lead on all LoanCare queries, questions, and research including entry of monthly invoice
• Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts including daily reconciliation of cash account
• Process and reconcile payroll GL entry files
• Reconcile employee benefit GL entries
• Cash management transfers for payroll, 401K, and delinquent investor accounts
• Approve wire transfers
• Analyze income statement postings
• Oversee the commission process
• Prepare monthly consolidated and branch financial statement packages
• Assist in financial audit document preparation
• Prepare and file quarterly reports with regulatory agencies
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
• Assisting in 1099 reporting and vendor management
• Additional duties and miscellaneous projects as assigned

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.
• Proficient in Excel.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and ability to research, interpret and administer accounting rules.
• Working knowledge of financial accounting systems, LOS and compensation systems. Preferably FISERV – Prologue, LBA Ware – Compensafe, and Ellie Mae – Encompass.
• Prior accounting experience in the mortgage or banking industry preferred. Loan Servicing knowledge.
• Reconciliation knowledge.
• Ability to adapt to change and function effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
• Highly driven with a strong attention to details to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Minimum five years of related work experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is required to effectively communicate verbally. The employee must be able to effectively operate a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-15 pounds.  Vision abilities is required by this job include close vision.
