What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Course Equipment Operator position at Harbour Ridge Country Club?

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Lead Operator or Foreman, performs routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance; does semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work; operates sand raking machinery, walkmower, flymo, edger and string trimmers. This position is considered an entry level position with the potential for advancement to Level I Operator.

Safety Equipment Requirements: Leather gloves, Safety glasses, Safety helmet, Long sleeves, and long pants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Operate walk mowers, string trimmers, flymos, and sand raking machinery; edge cart paths and perform routine manual labor.
  • Set tee markers, maintain ball washers; replace tee towels when needed; remove debris, sand tees and drop area divots; clean flower beds.

3. Maintain fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; report equipment problems or failure to the Equipment Manager immediately.

4. Return all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; clean maintenance areas.

5. Help in project work; assist in the construction of new greens, tees and fairways; grade and prepare soil base; lay sod.

6. Excavate and backfill ditches and trenches with hand tools.

7. Operate mowers or other light equipment when necessary.

8. Perform other duties as directed by his/her supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Sensory requirements required by the employee include the sense of sound, smell, taste, touch and speech.
