Quality Manager
The Quality Manager will help the organization develop and improve our quality and assist in the implementation of the quality policies and systems. The position shall be responsible for maintaining and improving QMS, manufacturing processes to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability with a strong continuous improvement mindset. The position will also lead and facilitate the implementation of quality initiatives and their continual improvements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Quality Engineers and DQRs.
  • Lead the maintenance and compliance of our AS9100 Accredited Quality Management System and associated performance metrics.
  • Maintain and improve Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance to the AS9100 Aerospace Standard.
  • Provide guidance on inspection plan by part by metrology-mode.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership for GD&T and SPC implementation and interpretation.
  • Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents, and reports.
  • Collaborate with functional managers from other departments to achieve customer satisfaction through compliance with various quality standards and requirements. 
  • Participate in or lead Quality Clinic / MRB activities.
  • Track Quality KPIs, measures such as COPQ and Non-conformances to be analyzed and made into actionable data.
  • Perform or lead RCCAs, resulting in a more robust process and/or QMS.
  • Coordinate activities required for continued AS9100 and NADCAP certifications for the site.
  • Create, monitor, and manage Corrective Actions including reporting to customers.
  • Participate in or lead internal and external quality audits.
  • Set up or participate in training as required.
  • Conducts or coordinates supplier visits/audits as required and manages SCARs working with the Supply Chain team to confer on both general and specific quality requirements and needs.
  • Support site calibration process and program to make sure it complies with the requirements.
  • Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing Quality Assurance and the customer.
  • Be accountable for Quality Program management and timely performance of Quality Assurance Department tasks.
  • Manage daily, short-term, and long-term tasks and projects with minimal supervision and complete them on time.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident alien, or otherwise able to review all export – controlled technical information.
  • Up to 15% travel (domestic and/or international) as necessary. 
  • Performs other activities, projects, or tasks as assigned by the Quality Director.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with external customers and internal staff.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9102 experience and execution.
  • FAA experience
  • Source Inspection experience
  • Self-managing workload: priorities, multiple tasks, and easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Thorough knowledge of process improvement methods and techniques, such as Lean and Six Sigma
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications.
  • Highly proficient with the various MS Office programs
  • Working knowledge of quality software packages
  • Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control
  • Experienced in MINITAB/JMP statistical software or equivalent.
  • Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques, and documentation
  • Solid organizational and administrative skills
  • Excellent communication and instruction skills
  • Ability to directly communicate with customers and team members in formal/informal environments.
  • People management skills
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications & Experience
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related fields or equivalent experience including management or supervision experience.
  • Experience in maintaining AS9100/ISO9001 quality standards.
  • Working knowledge of inspection methods and/or aerospace manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and experience with statistical process control and improvement tools and methodologies
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably to include welding and/or brazing.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management and/or process improvement methodologies, preferably in the aerospace industry
  • Agile and inquisitive thinker; interested in learning and applying new technologies and methodologies.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to ITAR Programs (US Citizen or Permanent Resident)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite or related software.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Typical office work environment and typical exposure to ambient office noise.
  • Required to work in production/manufacturing area, which includes wearing necessary PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes).
  • Must be able to sit, stand, reach, bend, and use hands to reach, grasp, and manipulate tools.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift at least 15 lbs.
