With preliminary direction from a licensed architect, conduct ongoing software testing to evaluate other tools like Athena for LCA studies and evaluate practicality from EPIC and CAREtool to Kaleidoscope and Cove Tool with the goal of assessing the usability for implementation at firm, including other tested software programs include Dynamo and AGi32; develop curricula for in-house staff training on early concept design analysis with a focus on the effectiveness of sustainability measures; support the setup and creation of Revit models so that they can be seamlessly used for plug-in software programs that analyze sustainability measures; participate in sustainability conferences to enhance the knowledge pool and to ensure that the firm is up to date on sustainability developments in the A E industry; support an integrated practice where architects and engineers engage early on projects to ensure full integration of all systems for optimized resource conservation design strategies; support the alignment of design decisions and sustainability concepts by implementing the AIA framework for design excellence on projects, prompting team members to consider all aspects of sustainable design; conduct in-house presentations with staff and firm leadership to propagate knowledge in sustainable design; conduct early site analysis with a focus on climatic aspects using climate consultant; use GIS to conduct site reconnaissance, site investigations, and onsite charettes; explore possibilities for passive strategies using Climate Studio and continue monitoring energy performance by using Design Builder; test early design strategies with Rhino 3D and specialized plug-ins like Ladybug, Honeybee, and Grasshopper scripts; test comfort levels around buildings in early design phases using IES VE for CFD analysis; create graphics to visually demonstrate the findings of the analysis using adobe suite from Photoshop to Illustrator to InDesign; assist in sustainable design and concept development for competitions requiring expedited concept development and document production; conduct preliminary analysis to assess the feasibility of achieving LEED, WELL, or other sustainability programs certifications; conduct and support shareholder client meetings to extract and develop design excellence and sustainable design goals for projects; prepare and construct physical models to represent early design and massing concept; support design team Revit modeling and employ Insight 360 for early energy analysis; conduct LCA studies to calculate the carbon footprint of projects using Tally and EC3 built over Autodesk Revit to identify areas for carbon reduction and embodied carbon reduction for both whole building and interior design projects; analyze the cost impacts of low carbon construction methods at a rough order of magnitude level; support the research for minimizing material use by identifying the carbon impact of various design decisions and by facilitating discussions about material reduction with all disciplines; coordinate and support interactions with WELL reviewers to ensure final WELL certification; run daylight analysis for LEED documentation and best practice design with IES VE modeling; provide energy compliance modeling for developed designs using EnergyPlus software; coordinate various disciplines from mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), structural, A/V, food service/kitchen, site, landscape, code, acoustical, sustainability, and lighting consultants to incorporate engineering systems into architectural designs and ensure compliance with LEED requirements throughout all design phases; conduct research into sustainable, low carbon, and healthy materials and evaluate appropriateness for construction use; assist the construction administration of projects by reviewing submittals in regard to compliance with sustainability requirements; coordinate process of submitting design and construction documentation for LEED certification, and support review process to final certification.
