About the Role

Automotive industry is going through a radical change. We are looking for thought leaders who have the curiosity to continuously monitor global/regional market dynamics and technology trends, break down complex problems into manageable tasks, are highly empathetic to both customer and consumer needs and are looking to develop products and services that will define the future of the automotive industry.

As a product manager, you will work on new technologies, platforms, consumer facing products, and/or services. You will work in a matrix organization to define and execute highly differentiated products from concept to launch by acting as a glue between the business and technology camps. Best products come to life in a collaborative environment. Therefore, you will work in a fast-paced work environment with business units, innovation and technology teams, supply chain, finance, sales, legal, marketing, UI/UX designers, etc. to bring your product vision to reality.

Your Team

While this is an individual contributor position, you will be expected to lead with influence and work with a cross-functional team members drawn from all relevant functions within the business in a matrix organization. This team will be empowered and aligned around company objectives. Excellent communication and leadership skills will be key to success


What You Will Do

  • Gather and synthesize market trends, market sizing, technology trends, customer, and consumer insights to determine opportunities for investments

  • Conduct market intelligence and assess competitive positioning by comparing Harman product portfolio to competitors' products and eco-systems

  • With customer needs in mind, identify gaps and generate new ideas that contribute to improved customer experience

  • Find and define OEM-winning product and value proposition opportunities that differentiate HARMAN from our competitors and increase revenue and margins

  • Define and translate Proofs of Concept, customer feedback, and technology roadmaps and into cohesive product definitions and productization workstreams, with a rolling 2-3-year iterative product roadmap and release calendar

  • Manage structured review of product concepts with the objectives as defined by the 2-3-year plan. Adapt to and manage change as a key strategic direction of the company and respond rapidly to market opportunities that arise.

  • Deliver MRD and PRDs with prioritized features and corresponding justification

  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes. Work closely with engineering teams to deliver with quick time-to-market and optimal resources

  • Leverage technologies within and outside of HARMAN to develop lasting and winning relationships to benefit the unique nature of the diverse HARMAN business.

  • Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners

  • Drive product launches including working with public relations team, executives, and other product management team members

  • Identify the Go-To-Market approach by prioritizing emerging technologies and innovations. Work closely with marketing and business units to help craft an effective marketing pitch for the products

  • Demonstrate an ability to think beyond the technology itself and understand key business drivers that ensure technology investment will provide substantial value or improvements to customers

What You Need

  • 5-10 years of Product Management experience in a matrix, global, cross-functional organization by collaboration with key stakeholders across sales, marketing, engineering, supply chain, etc.

  • Proven track record of defining and successfully launching products in global markets

  • Results - and detail-oriented: holds him/herself and others accountable for commitments

  • Experience with effectively communicating with C-Level

  • Ability to think beyond the technology itself and understand key business drivers that ensure technology investment will provide substantial value or improvements to customers

What is Nice to Have

  • Relevant education in Engineering. MBA preferred.

  • Strong experience in Product development and agile processes

  • Track record of managing large, complex projects with multiple stakeholders

  • Track record of driving business value and growth

  • Excellent teaming skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels within the organization, internally and externally

  • Experience managing external partners
