LOGISTICS COORDINATOR / SALES ASSISTANT
RAILWAY MATERIAL DISTRIBUTOR

Harmer Steel Products Co. is a leading distributor of railroad rail and track materials. We currently have an excellent opportunity to join our team in Chowchilla, California. We are looking for someone to coordinate interactions and paperwork between the yard, office and remote sales staff. Duties include scheduling freight, answering phones, preparing bills of lading, as well as supporting sales staff by entering orders and interfacing with customers about simple orders and scheduling deliveries. We are also looking for someone that could help with a variety of tasks and possibly support our new salvage operation located in Chowchilla. This could entail finding loads for our drivers, tracking expenses, approving invoices and transmitting weight tickets.

In addition to adding salvage operations to this location, we are starting the process of remodeling the office and constructing large outdoor structures to provide shade/shelter for yard workers. There may be opportunities to assist and support this work.

The ideal candidate will have:

• sales or sales admin experience
• experience with freight (flatbed trucks, motor freight, railroad cars)
• good basic math skills and accuracy with numbers
• good grasp of basic computer functions and software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to learn our specialized software systems
• effective verbal and written communication skills
• ability to work collegially with others in a small office/yard with frequent interruptions throughout the day
• integrity and professionalism
• good attention to detail and organizational skills
