Job Summary: Provide financial reporting and analytical support to the global royalty processing and HarperCollins Canada Local Program business units including preparation of budgets / outlooks and analysis of monthly results. Preparation of the monthly consolidated management reporting package for Harlequin / HarperCollins Canada.
Responsibilities
This role includes but is not limited to the following tasks/duties:
- Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and monthly outlooks for the global royalty processing operation. Includes coordinating data required from global licensees, review of data for reasonableness, upload into budget system etc. Responsible for the monthly accounting associated with the global royalty processing operation including recording of accruals, reconciliation of control accounts to the royalty system (Klopotek), timely reconciliation of intercompany accounts with the licensees, preparation of Blackline reconciliations and assessing results for reasonableness (35%)
- Assist with the preparation of the HC Canada Local Program budget and monthly outlooks. Includes coordination of data required such as volumes, product cost rates, unearned advances etc. Maintain / upgrade the budget model as necessary. Assess assumptions for reasonableness, provide insight into projections (30%)
- Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of monthly operating results and analysis. Includes the Harlequin, HC Canada Local Program & Import reporting packages, ad hoc reporting & analysis using Hubble / Hyperion etc. Also includes working with IT to design / test / maintain Hyperion reporting and analytics (25%)
- Provide support to the Finance team re various ad hoc assignments including: preparation of Stats Canada surveys, assisting with the preparation of the annual filings for the Canadian pension plan; providing information & support to the HarperCollins tax department, contributing to process improvements etc (10%)
Qualifications
Specific training or job experience required includes:• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or a related field• CPA or working towards a CPA designation with 3 years progressive experience in financial reporting & analysis• Strong excel skills; experience with Hyperion, JDE, Hubble an asset• Self-directed and highly motivated team player with the ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize work• Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills• Attention to detail
