Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive contested child custody and adoption assessments using, but not limited to, interviews of parents, children, relatives, mental health professionals, law enforcement and relevant members of the community.
Prepares written evaluation reports and provides such to the Family District Courts.
Obtains, interprets, and evaluates information regarding family behavior from various sources.
Identifies, explores, and addresses dysfunctional family interaction patterns.
Conducts conciliation counseling and mediations as directed.
Demonstrates problem solving skills to assist parties in accepting or finding solutions.
Serves as a witness providing testimony in contested child custody and adoption cases.
At least 30% of duties involve travel to conduct home visits, primarily in Harris County.

Education and Experience:
Master's degree in a Social Science field from an accredited college or university.
Three (3) years of experience providing social work, counseling, therapy, or forensic evaluations.
Licensure:
Licensed as a Family and Marriage Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Psychologist
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Professional standards as well as principles, practices and techniques of counseling, mediation, and psychological assessments.
Basic theory of psychopathology.
Clinical issues related to child development and the effects of divorce on children.
Family systems theory and a working knowledge of the Texas Family Code as it pertains to adoption, child custody, access, and support.
Ability to learn and become proficient in various software and web applications.
Strong negotiation, mediation, litigation, communication and writing skills are required.
Proficient using Microsoft Software.
Willing to learn and become proficient in other County and State of Texas computer programs.

Forensic experience relating to family dynamics
Working knowledge of the Texas Family Code as it pertains to adoption, child custody, access, and support

Regular Full-time
8 Hours a Day | Start Time is Between 7:00 A.M. and 8:30 A.M.
Salary:
Based on 26 Pay Periods
Work Environment:
Staff in this position should possess a high level of tolerance for this emotionally demanding and stressful work, while at the same time being supportive and understanding of the stresses being experienced by families.
Physical Demands:
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.
This would require the ability to lift files up to 10 pounds, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
