What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intake Clerk - Social Services position at Harris County?
The Intake Clerk provides clear and precise directions to persons who contact the office either by telephone or in person. The Clerk is the initial contact person for the office of Social Services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedules appointments for central and satellite offices
- Enters information regarding client information into the computer
- Handles all telephone calls
- Contacts utility companies as to the status of the bills presented by clients seeking assistance
- Receives visitors and/or guests to the Jensen Office
- Registers clients as they arrive for services
- Compiles statistics utilizing basic computer skills
- Performs other job duties as assigned

- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Two (2) years of customer service experience in an office setting
- Excellent customer service skills
- Basic computer skills
- Familiarity with filing systems
- Pleasant telephone voice and good communication skills; both verbal and written
- Courteous, neat in appearance, friendly, possess good organizational and telephone skills, and job knowledgeable
- Ability to type 35 words per minute
- Ability to handle multiple job duties
