Learning Center and Tutoring Coordinator

The Learning Center and Tutoring Coordinator provides oversight and direction for tutoring services, the Learning Center, the HU Writing Lab and other academic support resources. The position will work closely with the AVP of Student Services to develop, plan, implement, and assess academic support services for all HU students. This position is primarily on-campus with some hybrid flexibility dependent on student demand.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
(Duties may vary and other duties may be assigned.)

• Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising student tutors and proctors.
• Performs administrative tasks related to managing learning center and related programs including maintaining student tutor schedules, tracking of expenditures, and managing third-party service providers.
• Develop and assess learning center programs and services to assure quality and alignment with program learning outcomes.
• Manage and implement communication plan to drive students to resources.
• Collaborate with faculty and other functional areas to ensure students have timely referrals and access to appropriate programs and support.
• Create and offer a variety of academic workshops each semester to facilitate student success including orientation programs and first-year seminar.
• Serve as subject matter expert on best practices in tutoring services and programs.
• Analyze learning center program and services usage to continually improve programs and services.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES*

• Master’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Understanding and application of best-practices in college-level tutoring and student learning theory.
• Organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with frequent interruptions.
• Excellent writing, presentation and interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to develop strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and students.
• Thorough understanding of academic policies/procedures within a college setting.
• Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office computer systems, experience with computer-based integrated student databases and receptive to the use of new technology while also able to utilize web and social media platforms for student engagement; ability to run reports and analyze data in Excel.
