About Us
The Suspension and Expulsion programs are designed to offer students in grades seven through twelve a nontraditional approach to learning. Students recommended have not been successful in the traditional education setting. These programs will allow students to continue receiving credit for work from their home school.
About This Position
As a Family Support Specialist at HCYAC, you will work closely with our administrative team to connect students with community resources.
Responsibilities
Provides counseling for life skills and future goals for students.
Assist students and their families in connecting with community resources.
Provides telephone and on-site intervention/prevention and follow-up with families in best course of action.
Provides a wide range of case management, education, solution focused and supportive services to clients with persistent behavioral issues.
Works closely with the director and classroom coordinator to update them on treatment plans, progress notes, and next steps.
May assist parents/guardians and find homes for abandoned or abused children.
Advocates for clients in the community and works with providers, family members, and employers to assist students in establishing a support network and enhance personal and professional relationships.
Directing prevention classes.
Qualifications
Communicate effectively via written or oral communication.
Problem-solving skills.
Knowledge and understanding of community resources.
