Click on the following link to view the full pay range on the ESP Salary Schedule: https://www.hsd2.org/our-district/financial-transparency Job Summary: Communicate and build relationships with students, families, and community-based organizations to improve student attendance and academic outcomes. Serve as a liaison to ensure that families feel connected and engaged in the school and are able to leverage community partners to meet their needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop mutually respectful relationships with school principals and administrators, teachers and staff, families, community members, and partner organizations. Provide parents with school attendance policies and procedures, and assist parents in problem solving to improve student attendance.  Provide possible resources available for barriers to attendance.  Support Family Engagement by ensuring that every parent has an opportunity for a significant experience in the school’s instructional program. Support School Attendance Teams with home visits, team meetings, and data tracking. Attend district trainings, conferences, and meetings to ensure continued professional development. Plan and facilitate monthly attendance meetings with School Attendance Teams. Complete data collection and reporting responsibilities related to attendance and family community engagement. Provide written and verbal reports to the Director of Student Support and School Attendance Teams. Work with school leaders and staff to ensure a variety of intervention services (tech and in-person) Assist in training school-level counselors, administrators, and secretaries responsible for attendance tracking using the Guidance Document of graduated interventions.  Provide support to administrators and counselors regarding student attendance issues pertaining to home-schooling, dropout, expulsion, or runaway. Assist in the Development of a Guidance Document for schools that details the graduated levels of intervention.  This document will be updated annually to reflect any changes in the Colorado School Law as pertains to truancy. Remain updated with changes to Colorado School Law as it pertains to truancy. Review CDE Regulations related to October Count and Compulsory Attendance Law.  Communicate with the District Registrar to ensure compliance with regulations to count students in the truancy process. Perform other duties as assigned. Education, Training and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, plus post-secondary courses equivalent to one year of college in related field. Experience working in community organizing, education, healthcare, or social work, or related field. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills; ability to communicate and empathize with individuals of diverse backgrounds. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Experience organizing residents, families and/or organizations; experience working in Southeast Colorado Springs and surrounding vicinity preferred. Experience completing or applying a community and needs assessment; experience working with school preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality, manage multiple priorities, and project a professional image to external contacts. Energetic and comfortable working among diverse communities; high degree of effective customer service skills. Self-directed, anticipating opportunities and challenges before they arise and proactively tackling those issues with minimal supervision; exercise considerable initiative, discretion, and judgement in executing the functions of the job. Must be able to effectively manage stressful situations in a calm and professional manner. Strong ability to problem solves and work as part of a team. Colorado driver’s license.
