Job Description
The Senior Approvals Manager is responsible for technical review of sales opportunities including bid packages and/or project documents to determine disposal options for quotation purposes. Tasks also include the management of the approval of projects into Clean Earth facilities, beneficial use sites, and third-party disposal sites and to maintain project progress and compliance.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Review site history, environmental investigations, waste description, waste characterization analysis, testing procedures, and/or remedial action work plans for contaminated soil opportunities that are being considered for recycling or disposal options
- Comprehend and effectively consolidate accumulated data from multiple technical documents and sampling events, including various reports, laboratory analytical reports, geologic logs, cross sections, and site maps into a comprehensive project summary
- Support assigned sales personnel in reviewing bid packages and/or project documents to determine disposal options for quotation purposes
- Provide accurate, timely and competitive disposal options to sales
- Provide technical guidance to sales and clients concerning completion of waste approval paperwork, facility permits, federal, state and city environmental regulations and soil sampling
- Manage the approval of projects into Clean Earth facilities, beneficial use sites, and third-party disposal sites and maintain project progress and compliance
- Assist in approval of new and ongoing projects to ensure sampling, analysis and material meets acceptance criteria
- Submit project packages to regulatory agencies and/or third-party disposal site review engineers and work to gain approval
- Provide sampling guidance and/or develop site specific sampling plans to characterize soil, complete permit analytical requirements and delineate different materials. Manage the execution of on-site waste characterization activities
- Maintain comprehension of current federal and state regulatory standards and criteria
- Optimize relationships with environmental consultants, clients and third-party sites
Qualifications
Basic Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences or any related science degree
- 10-15 years of experience in waste disposal, environmental consulting, and/or environmental compliance
- Current driver’s license, clean driving record, and automobile
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Possess excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience using computerized systems for operations
- Ability to work independently and work under pressure.
- Ability to manage several tasks at once to meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
