Summary
Maintain production equipment dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, tools and gauges. Activities include sharpening punches and die sections, component repairs due to miss-hits, the manufacture of spare parts and die changeovers. Design and construct simple production devices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned.
· Examine, disassemble and sharpen existing dies in production. Observe for any damage sustained by the die or tool.
· Grind punches and die sections and manufacture corresponding shims.
· Repair or remanufacture any damaged components and reassemble tooling.
· Layout dimensions on material using precision measuring devices and shop math.
· Perform all machining as required for repair or rebuild of tooling including but not limited to milling, turning, grinding and drilling. Setup and operate heat treating equipment to achieve desired results.
· Provide support to production by trouble shooting tool and die problems in the plant to identify modifications or repairs needed.
· Properly configure dies during changeover procedure.
· Typically work with tolerance up to .0002”.
· Must be able to build and/or complete parts from print, sketch or verbal instruction.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divided up to four digit and three decimal numbers; Ability to use basic Trig functions with a calculator; Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, area and distance; Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry; Ability to use tape measure.

Basic computer skills necessary. Ability to work with Microsoft Windows and database entry.
