Shift Details: Alternating 1030a-11p/7a-7:30p. One Saturday every 4 weeks. One major/one minor holiday required. Self-scheduled trauma call.

Job Description:
- Improve efficiency to create a high functioning service line built for growth
- Case preparation for upcoming surgical cases to identify equipment needs and eliminate equipment utilization conflicts
- Maintenance of preference cards
- Work with the clinical director to identify potential cost savings and standardization of equipment
- Partnership with the sterile processing department on instrumentation needs
- Primary point of contact for neurosurgeons to ensure continuity and quality of the program
- Work with materials coordinator to secure specialized equipment and ensure proper representation from the company
The Operating Room (OR) Nurse functions as a Circulator/Scrub Nurse in the OR. Provides individualized, age specific and culturally appropriate safe patient care. Follows hospital policies and procedures in accordance with AORN standards. Participates in patient education to include their family or designees regarding planning and providing of care. Upholds high-reliability standards and participates in unit and hospital-based quality improvement activities.
- Patient centered approach to providing care with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to effectively collaborate with healthcare professionals to advocate and ensure safe patient care
- Actively seeks out resolutions to problems while promoting excellent customer service and patient advocacy
- Scope of duties within the O.R. include:
- Clinical competence
- Critical thinking skills
- Physical and emotional assessments
- Age specific competency
- Patient family member education regarding their plan of care and clinical pathway
- Maintenance of CPR, BLS validation and attendance of annual Validation Day required.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- EPIC experience preferred
- The ability to manage patient care with current computer technology
- 2-3 years of perioperative nursing (preferred)
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) preferred or to be obtained within 1-2 years of employment
- Self-motivated, proactive team player with the ability to make autonomous clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Must exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills through effective communication
- Supports the use of evidence-based guidelines and abides by organizational policies and procedures
- Patient centered approach to providing care with meticulous attention to detail
