What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Campus Safety Officer position at Hastings College?
Conduct active and random patrols of the campus to provide a safe and secure environment while mitigating security risks in a timely and effective manner.- Perform initial investigations of incidents, conduct follow-up investigations, complete accurate and timely reports, respond to emergencies and complaints.
- Manage campus security access points including physical keys and fobs.
- Coordinate security and logistical planning with support staff, security personnel of other organizations, event planners, law enforcement personnel, and/or others as required.
- Monitor and operate technical security systems including access control, video management, phone, radio and mass-notification systems to detect and facilitate the response to potential security threats.
- Regular and predictable in person attendance is required to complete job duties. Frequent night and weekend work is required.
- Lead team meetings and participate in designated meetings and mandatory training.
- Consistently model a high degree of confidentiality, customer service, and student focus.
- Work collaboratively and support other team members.
- Maintain a calm demeanor and deescalate difficult situations.
- Professionally represent Hastings College at all times.
- Serve as an escalation point for other Campus Safety Officers.
- Mentor and supervise the campus safety officer team.
- Assist department director with hiring, training, motivating, and assessing the performance of Campus Safety officers.
- Enforce Hastings College safety and conduct policies.
Required Experience:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum two years of security, corrections and/or law enforcement experience. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
