Payroll Manager

Haugland Group, a family owned and operated Long Island, New York based electrical and heavy civil construction company has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Payroll Manager to join our team.

Key Functions

• Analyze, prepare, and input data to process in-house weekly union and non-union payroll for 1000 employees
• Enter and update union benefit information for new and existing employees
• Verify weekend time coding, dependent upon union rules
• Confirm accuracy of input data for Labor (Union, Class, ST vs. OT, Hours etc.)
• Assure accurate and timely running of union payroll
• Evaluate for state tax compliance
• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports via ADP
• Onboard new State agencies
• Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications

• 10 years of experience with in-house payroll processing for a multi-state employer
• MUST have in-house experience processing union payroll
• Experience overseeing a support staff of payroll administrators
• Knowledge of ADP
• Knowledge of State and Federal wage, tax laws and overtime requirements
• Extensive computer experience is necessary. Experience with Viewpoint a plus.
• Ability to work within a customer-oriented environment, and provide quality service in a confidential work environment
• Participates productively as a contributing member in a team environment
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and standard computer applications
• Ability to identify problems; determine accuracy and relevance of information; use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations
• Effective communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills, and a strong work ethic
• Bachelors degree in business or a related field preferred
