Hawaii Business Magazine is looking for a new Art Director, to join a two-person creative powerhouse. The applicant should be proficient in graphic design with experience in print and online media.
We value excellent and inventive layouts, photography, illustrations, typography, logos and other creations that attract readers’ attention and keep them engaged with our stories and advertising. For their first-rate work, our designers have won dozens of national and statewide awards in recent years.
We want someone with a passion for good design. The successful applicant will join an innovative and collaborative team at Hawaii Business that has earned respect in the community for its coverage of important local issues like housing, small businesses, the environment, diversity, tourism, and leadership.
In addition to being creative, the new Art Director should be well-organized, solution-oriented, self-directed and able to manage their time and finish tasks on schedule.
The best qualified candidates will also be able to:
- Work collaboratively and collegially with the creative director and the magazine’s other departments: Editorial, Sales, Events, and Digital.
- Ensure consistency in design across online and print publications .
- Help in Managing and planning the production calendar.
- Maintain Hawaii Business?s high visual and design quality.
- Manage multiple projects at once and meet staggered deadlines.
- Be a critical thinker and problem-solver.
- Meet other responsibilities as the market and business dictate.
This is a hybrid position with work-from-home flexibility. Applicant must reside on O‘ahu.
The annual salary range for this position is $50,000 to $55,000.
The Art Director will report to Creative Director Jeff Sanner. Applications should include examples of your design work or links to that work.
