About us
Hawaii Retina is a multi-office ophthalmology practice, with offices in Honolulu, Hilo and Kona, Big Island, HI. We are a busy, multi-provider private practice, with a great team, and a range of modern devices for testing and treatment. We also have optical shops. We take care of a wide range of patients and pathology, from glasses/contact lenses and general eye care, through to cataract surgery, highly complex glaucomatous and retinal disease, and emergencies referred from local hospital ERs and other clinics.
We will provide you a stimulating opportunity to manage patients medically, and to grow as a clinician and practitioner.
Duties:
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity tests, refraction, testing, and ocular health evaluations.
- Diagnose and treat various eye conditions, anterior segment and posterior segment.
- Prescribe and fit contact lenses based on patient needs and preferences.
- Evaluate and manage eye diseases, such as dry eye, glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries.
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and answer any questions or concerns they may have.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records using electronic systems like MDI.
Skills:
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited optometry school.
- Valid state license to practice optometry.
- Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and pathology. - Special interests in any therapeutic area or disease category are a plus. Please provide information.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment, such as phoropters, tonometers, slit lamps and ophthalmoscopes, OCT, fundus cameras/Optos, B-scan. Experience with IOL Master and angiography are a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to provide compassionate care to senior patients who may have complex eye conditions.
- Strong sales skills to recommend and sell eyewear products to patients.
- Strong team player, easy to work with.
- Proficiency with computers and an interest in technology.
