Under the supervision of the Senior Quality Assurance Manager, the Sanitation Lead is responsible for the coordination and training of sanitation and janitorial team members on daily assignments.
\n- Coordinates and monitors daily sanitation assignments for the sanitation team for production equipment and production/warehouse facilities following the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
- Coordinates and monitors the daily janitorial duties of the janitor for non-production areas such as restrooms, locker rooms, breakrooms, offices, and other common areas.
- Follows Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and assists in providing employee training to perform work safely and effectively.
- Responsible for compliance with chemical containers, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
- Monitors condition of cleaning supplies, brooms, brushes, pads, and wipes, and replaces supplies when showing signs of wear.
- Ensures sanitation team follows the color- coded system program.
- Verifies and documents proper and correct chemical concentrations and inventory usage.
- Reviews MSS documentation, for complete and accurate completion.
- Inspects equipment and facility after cleaning and sanitation, identifies deficiencies with cleaning and takes corrective actions to ensure compliance with swabbing results.
- Performs all duties of sanitation personnel when short staffed.
- Reports GMP deficiencies with equipment and facility observed during cleaning activities for correction.
- Communicates sanitation problems with management and recommends changes in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices to improve sanitation standards for continuous improvement.
- Monitors inventories of cleaning chemicals, cleaning supplies, and facility personal hygiene supplies, preparing requisitions and purchase orders.
- Prioritize cleaning and sanitation activities with a food safety risk and safely corrects with urgency.
- Oversees the waste management program, ensuring trash is collected daily and receptacles are maintained in good condition, cardboard is bundled for recycling, and rejected bulk food products are transferred to animal feed bins. Arranges for animal feed pick up.
- Monitors the pest control program and immediately reports on signs of infestation. Monitors pest control devices are in marked locations and in good condition.
- Regular attendance is required for the position.
- May need to work overtime, weekends, and holidays to support manufacturing schedule.
- May be called in during off-duty hours to assist with emergencies related to sanitation activities.
- Performs all other work- related duties as assigned.
- High school graduate or GED.
- Three (3) years of experience in a food processing facility.
- One (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of Food Safety, FSMA, HACCP and GMPs is preferred.
- Able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 25 lbs. constantly; 25-50 lbs. frequently, greater than 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Able to read, understand, interpret, and apply written instructions.
- Basic computer skills.
- Able to work a flexible schedule, incl. day/night shift and weekends.
- TB Clearance from a valid medical provider as required by the State of Hawaii, Dept. of Health.
