Overview:
Under the supervision of the Director of Education, the Medical/Surgical Educator will assess, implement and evaluate the associate’s education needs to promote quality patient outcomes. The Educator implements processes to support evidence based practice in the delivery of quality health care enhancing patient satisfaction and quality goals.
Position Summary:
- Collects pertinent information related to potential education needs of the staff.

Analyzes the assessment data to determine the learner needs.

Identifies the general purpose and educational objectives that are measurable for each learning activity.

Identifies and collaborates with content experts to develop activities to facilitate learners' achievement of the educational objectives.

Provides staff education/coaching, serves as a preceptor and assists with all components of the RN Residency Program.

Participates in and utilizes evidence based research for improving staff education activities, nursing practice and staff outcomes.

Maintains accurate records of staff competencies by documentation and administration of e-learning modules.

Assists with Emergency Management by remaining updated with all emergency management policies/procedures, participating in drills and post-event debriefings and contributing to the improvement of emergency processes.
Infection Control: Initial and Ongoing training in dealing with infection control. Trainings could include but are not limited to, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids and bio hazardous materials as it applies to your daily work environment.

Qualifications:
Required:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Bachelors of Science in Nursing required or must obtain within 4 years of employment

Knowledge of general nursing theory and practice

Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques involved in performing general nursing services and adapting or modifying standards of nursing practices for care of specific medical cases.

Current Kansas Registered Nurse License or has work permit from the State Board of Nursing.

BLS certification required or must complete BLS certification with in the first two weeks of employment; and additional certification may be required for certain patient care settings or populations.
