We are currently seeking an individual with a background and experience to join our accounting department in a manufacturing environment. Minimal qualifications entail an associate degree in accounting with a minimum of 3 years’ accounting experience.
The cost accountant is accountable for the ongoing analysis of costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities and sources. The cost accountant must also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information with evaluation of the overall assets utilization including waste and shrinkage to management in the department and the corporation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Prepare, analyze and interpret reports associated with production activity.
· Examination into quarantine WIP, scrap, machine product issues and corrections on a daily basis.
· Coordinate with purchasing, sales, and plant managers return of merchandises.
· Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyze inventory evaluation.
· Analyze and assist with cycle count/physical inventories
· Review, analyze, and compile inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regard to cost analysis and profitability.
· Implements and executes suggestions to optimize accounting operations to make it productive.
· Must be flexible and perform a wide variety of tasks, efficiently and accurately with consistent interruptions.
