Job Summary
Consistent with Galen’s mission to deliver nursing education in an approach immersed in innovation, technology and student support, the purpose of this position is to assist students reentering the program through development and implementation of plans which are compatible with successful program completion. The Academic Progress Coach will foster the development of students who are self-directed, motivated, responsible decision-makers, encouraging the successful completion of degree requirements and timely graduation.
Position Responsibilities
- Monitor and coach identified at-risk students with a focus on students who are reenrolled.
- Collaborate with assigned advisees to create and implement individualized education plans.
- Monitor advisee compliance with the educational plan, including attendance, class participation and grades weekly.
- Monitor conditionally readmitted students for compliance with the conditions of the Readmission contracts.
- Interact weekly with advisees to review the advisees’ academic progress.
- Provide SAP academic counseling to advisees as necessary and incorporate SAP outcomes into advisees’ educational plans as appropriate.
- In collaboration with the registration and financial aid teams, assist in development of individual advisees’ schedules.
- Participate in the analysis of reports, including at-risk data, to identify academic issues affecting student progression and assists to develop, implement, and evaluate proactive plans to address concerns.
- Collaborate with course faculty regarding at-risk students’ academic performance and resource referral needs.
- Monitor advisees’ retention data to identify student withdrawal trends and discuss findings and recommendations with the student success department, faculty, and campus academic leadership.
- Proactively contact and be available to meet with advisees.
- Establish a process with the registration and financial teams to provide support for students identified as at-risk during the reentry process.
- Maintains documentation of all student interactions in the student information system.
- Collaborate with campus leadership and campus Retention Committee on campus-wide retention initiatives.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree with a major in education or related field or 5 years of relevant experience. Masters Degree in Education or related field preferred.
Special Qualifications: Effective interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to utilize remote technology in order to connect with students
Degree of Supervision: Dependent upon experience.
