Job Summary and Qualifications

Performs routine respiratory therapy procedures as prescribed by a physician. Routine procedures are defined as those procedures, which are ordered on a recurring basis (i.e. IPPB, HHN, MDI, USN, 02, Therapy, etc.) in non-critical areas.

• Responds to all Code Blues
• Performs external cardiac compressions and artificial ventilation
• Performs radial and brachial arterial punctures and ABG analysis
• Sets up and administers aerosol, humidification, and oxygen therapy
• Performs therapeutic percussion, vibration, broncho-pulmonary drainage, breathing and coughing exercises, hydration, and mechanical clearance of the airway through proper suctioning
• Administers breathing treatments with prescribed medications as per departmental policy and procedure. 6. Following all patient therapy administered makes proper notification in patient’s record as per department policy
• Insures all equipment is in proper working order and follows department policies to control nosocomial infections. 8. Performs all necessary record keeping (electronic charting, billing, QC assignment board, etc.)

What qualifications you will need:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduation of an AMA approved 1- or 2-year Respiratory therapy Program. Current State of California RCP License
• Current BCLS
