Job Summary and Qualifications
Essential Job Functions:

Demonstrates competence in all areas of special procedures: positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, technical factors and surgical assistance.

Must demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, adult patients
-
Ensures efficient workflow in Special Procedures Department by getting patients started on time and keeping room turnaround time to a minimum.

Responsible for the proper use of the computer system (scheduling exams, patient tracking, film tracking, proper completion of exams, capture charges).

Understands and follows infection control/universal precautions in the performance of all job tasks. Maintains order and cleanliness. Always practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination.

Responsible for the care and maintenance of existing IVs may be responsible for injecting specific medication under the direction of the physician.
Additional Job Functions:

May have access to radiopharmaceuticals, contrast agents and other non-controlled medications as appropriate to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Will integrate current scientific knowledge and technology into their work practices, play an active roll in the orientation and training of new employees and students and participate in continuing education provided to the department during work hours. Yearly, Technologist will participate in and complete their Job Skills/Competency Checklist.

Maintain an atmosphere of professionalism, communicate technical and general information to, as well as, display consideration to peers, medical personnel, and customers in a professional manner and promote a positive image in daily and professional activities. Technologist will maintain a clean, stocked, orderly work area.

All employees shall facilitate and participate in current and future Radiology Department CQI monitoring and implement changes accordingly. Employees shall assist in collection of data, reviewing and revising the CQI program to be in compliance with accrediting agencies, hospital goals, departmental policies and procedures. All employees shall demonstrate knowledge and responsibility for on going CQI.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:

Education: Successful completion of radiologic technology program
-
Experience: 1 year experience as a radiologic technologist in a hospital setting 3. Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
Preferred: Advanced certification in Special Procedures or Cardiovascular Technology is preferred. Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:
Required: Medical Radiologic Technologist Certification from Texas Department of Health Preferred: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (VI) is desired.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- High School Graduate / GED
