Summary: The Travel Nurse is a NYS licensed RN responsible for travel throughout New York State, as needed, to provide direct patient care, education, and coordination of services in accordance with physician orders. The Travel Nurse also ensures communication with the physician and the multidisciplinary team.
Essential Functions
For a specified period of time, overall responsibilities include providing and coordinating quality patient care, maintaining patient caseload, maintaining productivity goals with and accurate, timely documentation. The Travel Nurse is responsible for the overall plan of care and the outcome of that care, including care delivered by other nursing staff (LPN, HHA), to include:
- Conduct admission and manage care of patient.
- Develop and implement the nursing care plan.
- Provide skilled nursing care as outlined in the nursing care plan.
- Oversee the care given by home health aides to assigned patients.
- Document those services rendered to the patient, changes noted in the patient’s condition and/or family and home situation; make revision in the nursing care plan as needed; record supervisory visits conducted with the home health aide; evaluate patient care and progress.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Associates degree in Nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current NYS registered RN license, and minimum one year home care experience.
- Knowledge of State and Federal regulations, as well as payer guidelines.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License.
- CPR Certification.
- Independent working and functional knowledge of HCHB required.
