Senior IC Application Engineer

Product Design/Development

• Design electro-optical reference design and evaluation systems for promoting II-VI ASIC solutions
• Coordinate with firmware engineering and IC engineering team members to develop system control algorithms
• All technical inquires via telephone, email or internet are reviewed and actioned
• Customer expectations are understood
• Analyze customer requirements and propose technical solutions
• Technical problems related to customer’s use of product are anticipated. Value added service is provided by working with customers to understand and improve their product.
• Product design assumptions and risks are clearly communicated
• Provide support to the Engineering Managers in developing tactical and strategic plans to achieve revenue and operating profit goals that meet company goals.
• Coordinate and advise the engineering and manufacturing teams in development of new products and redesign of existing products
• Provide input and review of IC product documentation such as datasheets and application notes
• Collect data, analyze and report results
• Setup and maintain electro-optical laboratory station
• Support IC Design and Product Engineering teams

• Active participation in available training sessions is demonstrated and training sessions and brown bag lunches are supported and recommended.
• Internal technical reports are published
• Complementary technology publications are reviewed regularly.
• Active participation in technical conferences and workshops.   Communicates well with outside vendors and customers, fostering good working relationships.
• Specific conferences, workshops, etc. necessary to maintain technical network and technical knowledge and understanding are identified, proposed, attended and reported.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree is required 5 years of related experience or 3 years of related experience with a Master’s degree or a PhD with little or no experience
• Experience in hardware design (PCB) including RF design proficiency
• Experience in RF laboratory measurements
• Experience in high speed optical communication transceivers preferred
• Data analysis and statistics
