The Shop Laborer, based in our Placerville, California location just outside Sacramento, assists in the daily operations of our shop environment working with the other members of the maintenance and asset management team.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Provide manual labour and ground support to shop operations such as moving equipment and materials as needed.
• Assist with processing the shipping and receiving of equipment and supplies in the shop.
• Support the Property and Equipment Manager, Shipper and Receiver, Welders and Mechanics as able and assigned.
• General Housekeeping. Ensure cleanliness and organization of the shop and yard, painting and basic upkeep of the work space.
• General yard keeping such as watering plants. 
• Document work duties performed on company work orders when applicable.
• Ensure equipment and material organization and cleanliness.
• Use hand tools, small power tools and portable equipment as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned. 
• Complete inventory of shop supplies and equipment monthly.

• Provide manual labour and ground support as required for loading and unloading equipment and material onto and off delivery and transportation vehicles, which may involve rigging and hoisting.
• Process and coordinate shipping and receiving of equipment and supplies in the shop.
• Assist the Purchaser in completing Material and Service Requisition’s (MSR’s).
• Operate and maintain the forklift and front-end loader.
• Support the Shop Supervisor, Welders and Mechanics. Duties include disassembling and reassembling equipment, lifting and carrying equipment and tools.
• General Housekeeping. Ensure cleanliness and organization of the shop and yard, painting and basic upkeep of the work space.

Requirements

Experience and Training Requirements

Required

• 2 years experience of labour experience in a shop environment 
• Physically fit and can perform labor intensive duties
• Fluent in English both verbal and written
• Basic knowledge of hand and small power tools 
• Valid Class 5 Driver Licence with a clean drivers abstract & reliable transportation
• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test prior to employment
• Successfully complete a 50lbs, Level II Health Assessment

Asset

• A background in construction or oilfield industry 
• Safety Training and certifications are an asset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to be organized, prioritize tasks, and manage changing priorities and processes
• Strong analytical, accuracy, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Excellent customer with a high level of professionalism  

Work Environment

• Working in all weather conditions, except lightning and hail, and all outdoor temperatures and wind conditions in all seasons.
• Operational tasks may require working at a height above 3m from ground surface
• Operational tasks involve exposure or potential to chemical hazards such as silica and chemicals in fuels, solvents, lubricants, cleaners, etc. 
• Operational tasks involve exposure to wildlife, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical hazards
• Exposure to noise levels above 85 dba.
• Personal protective equipment is required, with hard hat, steel toed boots, fire retardant coveralls, safety glasses and gloves being standard and provided by the company. Respiratory protective equipment, face shield, and other personal protective equipment may be required depending on the task being performed.
