Primary Responsibilities
HDR's Civil Engineer in Walnut Creek will: perform engineering tasks while ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and other governmental regulations; inspect project sites to assess existing conditions for future design, or to monitor progress of constructed facilities to ensure conformance to design specification standards; perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations to determine design specifications and ensure compliance with design criteria; plan, design, evaluate hydraulic systems or structures, using computer-assisted design or drawing tools; provide technical input to the managerial personnel regarding design, construction, program modifications, or structural repairs; analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data; evaluate surveying data to determine grades or elevations for use in drainage design; estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, and labor; design environmentally sound civil structures (structures for the purpose of roadway drainage and/or treatment of stormwater runoff from roadways); identify environmental risks and develop risk management strategies for civil engineering projects, specifically, related to drainage and stormwater treatment for transportation projects; and conduct studies of drainage patterns or environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess potential impacts from transportation projects.
Required Qualifications
A Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related engineering field and 1 year of experience in civil engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related engineering field and 3 years' experience in civil engineering.
Required experience may include professional or internship experience and must include experience in: hydrologic and hydraulic calculations; Water Quality Assessments; drainage design; AutoCAD Civil 3D; and ArcGIS.
Accepting licensed and unlicensed. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is not a prerequisite for this position.

The expected compensation range for this position is $120,245 - $127,500 annually/hourly depending upon skills, experience, education and, geographical location.
